CHM 107 - Contemporary Chemistry II Class Hours: 3 Lab Hours: 3 Credit Hours: 4
This is a survey course in chemistry for non-science majors emphasizing applications of chemistry to present society. Topics include organic chemistry, polymers, biochemistry, consumer and environmental chemistry, drugs, fitness and health. Laboratory sections emphasize applications of basic techniques and supplement lecture topics. Other topics include nuclear energy, alternative energy sources, and genetic engineering.
Prerequisites: Satisfactory reading and writing placement test scores for ENG 101 or completion of ENG 100 , ENG 101 , or ENG 155 . Satisfactory math placement test scores for MAT 102 or completion of MAT 101 . All prerequisite course grades must be a C or better. Note: High school chemistry or equivalent is recommended. This course does not serve as a prerequisite for CHM 211 or .
